Secret name

Some time ago TSO posted a bit about secret IRA names or somesuch - you take your middle name and add your mother's maiden name. That amounts to William Bass for me - or, as seen on teevee, Big Mouth Billy Bass. Sigh. In such cases, perhaps one could adopt one's Father's supersecret name, which in my case would be William Graves. Now there's an IRA/Wild West name: Billy Graves.

LOL. I actually have one of those Billing Big Mouth Basses. I think it appeals to my inner redneck. It's so crass it crosses into elegance, or at least elegant crassness. My wife won't let me put it out though. :(

Dear Bill,

Let me just say, that at least you have an interesting one. I'd end up with W. Smith. I prefer not to make a point of the W. But let's say that it was a name popular in the era during which I was born.

shalom,

Steven

...it appeals to my inner redneck

Indeed. Sigh. I don't have one, let me be quick to clarify! That is, I don't have a Billy Bass; I do have an inner redneck. Lisa's parents have all sorts of singing geegaws they bring out around Christmas to delight the kids and annoy the parents.

W. Smith Now there's a mysterious one. Obviously a pseudonym, but quiet enough to evoke a sense of coming misfortune - the quiet gunslinger just arrived in town.

Way back when I was in Cambridge, UK learning about Bluetooth, the trainer was instructing us about his company's programming/debug environment. His demo "build from scratch" example was to sketch out a program to implement the algorithms behind Billy Bass. It beat the typical "hello world" or "elevator controller" example… ;-)
